Review from Leonard De Leon
Great App! No fussy settings, turn it on and go. For awhile this app was not working for me, uninstalled and tested Hola! It seemed too good to be true! Then I noticed the yuge! Battery drain. Then I started to ask questions and saw Hola actually uses your phones data to stream to everyone else, even with it turned off, yikes. So back to the bear which seems to be working great again, fingers crossed. Automaticc subscription renewal without a notice is obnoxious.
Very disappointed with this. I opted for the paid version and find that it disconnects constantly without warning then I cannot reconnect it. In fact, I've given up. I don't know if this is connected or not but since I started using this service (when it is actually working) i have had both my debit and credit card details stolen. And I'm very careful online. Also I'm not impressed with the little jokey bear roar on reply as I'm not a 3 year old, it's not professional at all and it doesn't make me feel like I want to get in touch any further to be honest. Still using the little "Rawr" (without the capital 'R' obviously, as the person who's replying in this manner is obviously an imbecile!) on another unhappy reviewer I see. I must try "tra la lah" before replying when one of my customers has a concern. I'm sure that won't alienate them in the slightest. My sides are positively splitting!! You're such a hilarious laid back company. I won't be getting in touch because you've already proved that it's all about taking the money and running, after experiencing your 'hilarious casual' reply both to myself and others, I do not wish to deal with any member of your staff whom I assume are either 13 years old or just complete and utter idiots. I won't be renewing my subscription next year, nor will my friends and family. I wonder how you've managed to stay afloat for this long.
Very disappointed by tunnelbears ability to watch things like Netflix and hulu. I use tunnel bear to remain anonymous so I keep it pretty much permanently on. If I have it on, even when set for my region I can't watch Netflix at all. Highly frustrating so far it's proven to have not been worth my 70$ for the year. And yes I've gone through their FAQ on this topic. I'll be sticking to tor from now on.
I don't yet understand the principles of connecting and disconnecting. The program disconnects while I am on my home network, but then says it is an untrustworthy network and tries to reconnect -- unsuccessfully. Out in the world of unknown networks, it works fine, but at home it is a pain.
There are some very nice features in this VPN, and bears! The auto connecting feature is already turned off, but it still turns on automatically on LTE; and sometimes, even on trusted Wifi networks! If they get that fixed, I would more likely get the subscription.
First started using it on my laptop after hearing a promo (thx Canadaland!) and used it free for a few months but had a 1G monthly limit. They had a new years sale of something like 40% off for a year subscription so I jumped on that. No issues so far and I love love love being able to watch the great content normally "not available in my country" Truth be told, the main reason was so I could watch @midnight on comedy central. Worth it.
