FAQ:

- If your app stopped working, please try to delete the jed folder on your sd card and re-install the app from scratch.

- The server is under heavy load, download might get slow.
Please be patient and retry.

- The app works offline once the dictionary files are downloaded, BUT sends analytics data (Google) if wifi is available!

- User data ( tags! ) gets deleted when updated!

- Works offline
- Search and view results as you type!
- Multiple dictionaries ( English-Japanese, French-Japanese, Spanish-Japanese )
- Search in readings (romaji), meanings (english) and japanese (kanji, hiragana and katakana)
- Search results can contain words, expressions, kanji (both onyomi and kunyomi) and inflected form for adjectives and verbs.
- Filters results based on content type (meaning, reading, character type, parts of speech, common words, common kanji)
- Radicals lookup
- tags (vocabulary list) with possibility to search and export to Google Docs and Anki.
- Animated Stroke Order Diagrams for kanji
- Copy-Paste for most of the field and a notepad to gather information
- Move to SD card (above 2.2)

I used this app for years when I lived in Japan and absolutely loved it, but the recent update doesn't work. When I try to open it now, I get a pop-up that says "No SD card found!" And then the app closes. I restarted my phone to see if that would help, but it did not. I'm afraid to uninstall bc I saved a lot of words in my tags and don't want to lose them. If it gets fixed I will give five stars again.

This app is the GOAT. Simple interface, nifty features (that radical search!), and usable offline. I've been using JED for the past decade. It's never changed, because it doesn't need to. The only thing I'd improve is the app icon--it shows up all pixelated because it wasn't designed for high-resolution screens. Also the stroke diagrams are a little hard to find, but that's not a big issue. Thanks so much for making a nearly perfect app!

I've used this for many years and have always been enamored with the straightforward UI and usability. I especially appreciate that it is offline and stored locally. It appears that this has not been updated in a very long time and that is unfortunate. Something this great deserves more attention. Best Japanese dictionary currently available on Android by far.
