SeaWatch is a center for handling public reports about ecological risks in the Mediterranean Sea and the Gulf of Eilat. The center is operated by the team of the Society for the Protection of Nature, and its goal is to improve the ecological condition of the Mediterranean Sea and the Gulf of Eilat and allow the public to be directly involved in saving the sea.

SeaWatch is a focus of action, so the quality of reporting is critical to our ability to successfully address the issue. This is also the reason that we do not accept anonymous reports, and it is mandatory to leave contact details so that we can contact you and receive additional details about the hazard for the needs of effective treatment.

The contact information will remain confidential, and only the nickname you chose will be used in the report map.
The reports reach our referral center and are checked.
Reports found to be detailed and reliable are forwarded to the relevant authorities (the Nature and Parks Authority, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, local authorities).
We monitor the handling of inquiries, and issue an annual report that follows the handling of the authorities to remove the hazards and enforce the law.
Certain reports will be handled directly by the response team of the Society for the Protection of Nature, with the help of volunteers, such as the removal of ghost nets, marine waste clean-up operations, monitoring and treatment of invasive species (with the help of researchers from the academy), and more.

Use of information from reports dealing with violations of the law:
Information about violations of the law can be used to:
Creation of a data base on crimes at sea, for accurate characterization of crime patterns (seasons, hours, areas, people, etc.), in order to direct and prioritize enforcement efforts.
Directing intelligence efforts towards an individual criminal entity.
Evidence for an enforcement case. In order for a report to be used directly in an enforcement case, you need:

As many identifying details as possible, including supporting evidence (for example, it is desirable that a photo documenting a criminal incident should also include the injury, the offending means, the offending person, and details identifying the place of the crime).
Willingness to testify before the enforcement body.
Additional evidence (reports from other people from the same event, for example).
The enforcement authorities do not undertake to handle every report, but we undertake to forward every quality report to the authorities, and to follow up on its handling.
