Flip (formerly Flipgrid) is a free app from Microsoft where educators can create safe groups for students to engage in curriculum using short video, text, and audio messages. Educators can control who is invited to their Flip groups and what they can see, and 84 percent of educators who use Flip say their students are more engaged in the learning experience!

This is an excellent program! As a teacher I use it weekly. The kids also enjoy being connected on it. The app still needs a lot of work in my opinion. The students and I can't upload videos on the app without there being formatting issues. Recording videos is fine, but uploading them from the phone doesn't work. The videos will be tiny rectangles in the middle of the screen. Also, there aren't any administrator controls on the app. If I need to delete a comment or video I have to use a PC.

If possible, I would give it negative stars. First of all, the core feature of the app doesn't work. The funny thing is that the app likes freezing every single time you try to pull up a saved draft video. Your best bet is using the computer for flip since it's obviously not optimized for mobile use.

This app is so buggy, I can't believe they chose it for students to use at schools this year! We often lose entire clips while editing and have to start over. It also has issues when uploading, often resulting in a total loss. It's very frustrating for my son, who works very hard on his presentations. Beyond that, it has me login in multiple times per use. Terrible all around. I will be personally making sure that his teacher and the school stops using it.
