Review from John Buckham
Dreadful product. Only seems to (vaguely) work on phone. Running on tablet - fails to login - just hangs - Used to work. Ridiculous complex login process using images that are too small to decipher. Even on phone where it works, it is incredibly slow. Probably the worst app I have on android.
Awful. I thought the Sky Q app was clumsy but this is really awful. And at least Sky looks like it's improving. Logging in takes an age. No option to download to external storage - sd card just like Amazon Prime and even Netflix. Connecting the app to my Tivo box has never worked. Though I can see the box connecting for streaming from my local box fails every time and the error support is utterly idiotic as well as unhelpful. Nice for setting recordings but not much else.
Downloaded new app. Again can't find my TiVo box on the network. The ONLY network I have. Can show me what's on my box I.e my shows, but can't find my box. Bizarre. The same network used for my Wi-Fi which is enabling me to log this review and download the app in the first place. But want me to phone to speak to someone. Can't online help just give instructions to follow and check.
Virgin TV Control App has stopped working, restart app, close app. This is the message I keep getting on my Android phone, if Virgin Media are reading this feedback and all the others who are having the same problem opening this app, then Virgin Media sort it out for your customers, the old app worked well, and we only had to download 1 app, now we have to download 2 apps and only one of them works. 1Star rating for this app. If I could give you a 0 I would.
As others, won't connect to TiVo when on WiFi. Turning off WiFi on my phone lets it connect, but silly bug. Others are saying they can't watch telly on it, but that is because there is a second app, Virgin Go, for that purpose now (hope that helps someone). Edit: I read somewhere on here that this app worked if you used an ethernet cable to connect to your home network. Nope. App still just spins on Connecting, unless I temporarily turn off WiFi and connect via 4g. Then turning on WiFi lets it connect, but not watch My Shows as "I'm out of my home". Funny that, although this house I'm in looks remarkably like mine.
Having issues app will not launch, got in once by changing WiFi connection but will not launch. Tried a reboot did not make any difference MB After three day's I'm still not connecting I uninstalled and reinstalled got in once and back to not connecting. Have uninstalled and reinstalled again but this time I'm just not connecting at all, all I'm getting is the connecting screen. Getting frustrated as I used the old app a lot and want to continue using with no problems. All this is on my Lenovo yoga 3 tablet Android 6
Poor in comparison to similar apps I've used from other TV providers. Presentation of TV guide is particularly below par, a limited view, slow and clunky. Expected a lot better 'supporting tech' when I moved to VM. Hoping for a real step change with the update app due soon!! Update - new look app, reduced functionality, no visual or UI improvements. There goes one of the two stars I had previously awarded.
