CHECK it applies your railcard discount The price with Disabled Adult Railcard is the same as with no railcard, meaning you pay 50% more (eg £75 instead of £50) for buying through the app versus Virgin's website. Has been this way for ages. Don't know if other railcards affected. Bizarrely it started working properly when I attempted to take screenshots after leaving this review. Either they fix things incredibly quickly or it is more intermittent than I realised.
Can't sign in. The app is useless until I can sign in. There is also no option to recover password if you forget. I changed my password a few times from the Web based site and tried still nothing. Unusable
Have used the app for a few years and never had a problem with it. Now I've changed my phone (to Samsung Galaxy 7 Edge) and the app no longer recognises my login. Frustrating, and have spent hours trying and trying to login and checking in login details. Have just tried again. I can still login on my old phone, but not on my new one. Will use Red Spotted Hanky until someone tells me how to resolve this issue. Contacted customer support. They deleted my account and gave info about password length. Created new account but still no joy. They then said I must be using the Virgin East Coast app, which I've already confirmed I am not. No further response since. Can sign in on desktop on computer.
Useless and costly This is a great way to waste time and get into huge rows with virgin staff. You book tickets online and the website tells you that you can download them to the app. So you pay for the tickets and then install the app but here's where it goes wrong. It refuses to link your virgin trains account to the app it just recommended you download to access the tickets. You're now stuck with an app that won't connect to your account and tickets you can't access, all ready for virgin inspectors to tell you you're Fd.
The worst app on the world Not only unusable but also steals your money and it's very hard to get your tickets or money back once they have squirreled it away. Avoid.
Bought tickets for a west coast train and was told I need to download them to the app. Turns out the app isn't for west coast trains customers so I guess the extortionate amount I paid for the tickets has gone down the drain? The sooner virgin trains are renationalised the better
We’ve fixed some bugs.
Store your train tickets with the Virgin Trains East Coast Ticket Wallet.
