About this app

100,000+ space objects available for free!

Uncover the beauty of the night sky with the Sky Tonight app — a powerful sky viewer, star map free, and stargazing app. Effortlessly navigate stars in the sky, planets in the sky, star constellations, satellites, and more! Discover comets, asteroids, today’s Moon phase, and get alerts for the next meteor shower or special celestial events. Everything you need for stargazing and astronomy is right here in Sky Tonight — your reliable sky guide. Works offline

Answer the three big questions every star gazer asks:

What's that bright object in the sky?
What celestial events can I witness tonight?
How do I find the object I'm curious about in the night sky?

Sky Tonight offers a personalized sky view and star tracker experience. Customize the constellation view, set reminders for unique space events, explore objects’ paths from your vantage point, filter stars and planets by their magnitude, and easily locate stars and constellations with a precise constellation finder.

Sky Tonight features:

► Point your device at the sky to see real-time positions of space objects on the interactive sky map and star viewer.
► Activate the Time Machine and determine the position of celestial bodies at different time periods in the night sky app.
► Use augmented reality mode and see the sky view overlaid on the image from your device's camera.
► Get extended information about any sky object by tapping on its name in the astronomy interface.
► Stay updated on the latest astronomy news with the What's New section.
► Turn on night mode to make your sky at night observation more comfortable.
► Filter objects on the star map according to their visual brightness.
► Regulate object brightness for better visibility under real sky conditions.
► Spot dozens of asterisms along with official star constellations.
► Adjust visible constellations and customize how they are shown on screen.

Unique features:

Interactive trajectories relative to an observer
Instead of classic trajectories relative to Earth’s center, the app shows object paths in the sky relative to an observer. A long touch on observer-based trajectories moves the sky object to a selected point. While holding the touch, slide along the trajectory to change the time — a practical tool for star tracking and observation planning.

Flexible search
Use flexible search to quickly find objects, events, and articles. Search for “stars”, “mars moons”, “mars conjunctions”, “solar eclipse”, and the app will display all related objects, events, and astronomy content.
Trending shows currently popular objects and events; Recent keeps objects you viewed last — ideal for fast navigation in a night sky app.

Fully customizable event reminders
Set event reminders for any date and time so you don’t miss a solar eclipse, a Full Moon, or a star–planet configuration.

Astronomy calendar with a stargazing index and weather forecast
Explore an astronomy calendar with lunar phases, meteor showers, eclipses, oppositions, conjunctions, and other sky events.
Check the Stargazing Index calculated from Moon phase, light pollution, cloudiness, and object visibility time — higher index means better observing conditions.

You don’t need several apps like sky map, star chart, or sky view tools anymore; Sky Tonight combines everything in one complete sky guide.

Premium Access:
*Sky Tonight is free to download and use. All space objects and sky events are available without Premium.
Premium Access does not unlock objects — it removes interface limits, and removes ads so nothing interrupts your stargazing.*

Well this is totally useless! I expect ads, but if I can't get past them to use the actual app what's the point? Every time I try to open the app, I get to the "select language" screen, an add pops up and I can't get past it. The app won't open and I can't do anything else. I just get redirected to Google Play store for some other app. As far as I can tell this is just an ad generator. Maybe that's just a glitch for your app developers, or maybe it's intentional. But this is getting uninstalled.

I love the idea... but the app is difficult to use. It's hard to zoom in and actually find what you're looking at. Plus, there's the obvious problem that it shows everything that would be visible if it weren't for light and air pollution. Makes it hard to have points of reference to know what you're actually looking at. Also, the controls are unwieldy for a handheld device. I feel like I need a 3rd hand to be able to use it.

This app is amazing!!! I love it so much! It let's you see all the stars, planets, moons and constellations around you in real time and all the information about them! It doesn't need wifi and you can skip ads really quickly!! That, with the music and visual, makes it's a perfect app for winding down and relaxing!!! 🌙🌟🌃
