To configure VLC™ in your PC/Mac, just download and run the following script in your PC (only windows):

Windows will ask you permission to make changes in the installation folder and allow VLC™ to access the network. Those actions are necessary for proper function, please allow them.

What does the script do?
Basically, It starts VLC™ with its web interface enabled, and passes it some parameters to improve codec finding and rtsp streaming performance.

Testing this app today. It's tiny in size compared to the other bloated & poorly designed VLC remotes. It's not perfect, but so far stable & seems to do all & more others do. I can suggest some improvements for my usage needs, like showing current VLC meta data. People who can't configure it need to try more. I mainly use it on cheap Android phones to control a Win10 device running VLC 3.xxx with a playlist of my fave music streams/radio stations. The Win10 audio goes into a home theater system.

The server hosting the vlcdirect.bat file is down. After scouting the internet for a while, I found it (hopefully the original one) on a third party website. Upon running the file, it got stuck on checking host files... on the cmd prompt. I dont expect to get any support on this as it seems like the developers have abandoned this project anyway.

It's pretty good all round. It does what it's needed for, but there are a few flaws. The interface looks very dated and the file browser doesn't make sense. You can't browse for specific folders, you can only look at the folders that the app itself picked.
