Does not work on my Daydream. "Incompatible app, This Carboard Application is not compatible with Daydream headsets." I even tried turning off NFC but I still get the same error. I wish there was an addendum to the star rating I obviously don't hate the software it just has a bug.
This is a great tech demo. No gameplay, just moving through a cave. This would be a good first demo for someone who isn't very familiar with VR. If your mom (or dad, wife, sister, grandma, etc) wonders what the point of your VR goggles is, set them up with this app. It's fun and about as simple as it gets. (A movie would be simpler, but not show off controlability)
Really nice VR experience. I remember having installed the older version where you're not in control of the journey but the visuals were stunning much like this newer one and you could basically just lie back, look around and enjoy the trip. I think it would be cool if that old legacy version could be incorporated into the new app giving the user a choice of which experience they wish to enjoy each time they start the app. I like the innovative way the new app lets users move around and although I haven't tested it yet if it really does work on devices without a gyro sensor then that's very impressive. But as much as I enjoy the freedom of being able to explore the caves at my leisure it takes a bit of effort. At times having to get up from a lying down position and turn around while standing so I could continue my exploration. Okay, not exactly a task that tires the user out, just a minor inconvenience. That's why I'd love to see the legacy version back again too.... for those lazy evenings you just want to lie back and get immersed in the virtual world with no effort at all, just take in the visuals and forget the world outside for a short time which tbf the new app succeeds in doing too except for those times I get stuck facing a wall and need to physically get up, spin round and lie down again to continue. Not a complaint by any means. More of a feature request for an app Ive always liked very much. Thanks go out to the devs for it. Keep up the great work experimenting with different ways of experiencing & navigating VR. It's vital if the platform is to evolve which I'm sure it will.
I loved it. It felt like I was on the holodeck on Star Trek the next generation.
