The lock screen gets replaced with words to help you review everytime you unlock your phone. I suggest you go to the settings and click on the option to change the words everytime you unlock the phone to practice different vocabulary. You'd be surprised at how much you can retain just by reading for a few seconds before using your phone as normal. Very handy feature.
