About this app

Severe weather alerts for your exact location. Storm Shield gives you storm-based alerts for tornado, hurricane, flood, thunderstorm, winter storms and other life-threatening weather events via voice and push notification.

Storm-based alerts help reduce false alarms by alerting you to severe weather based on your exact location within a county. County-based alerts can result in false alarms, warning you when your location in the county is not within the threatened area.

These features come with your app download:

• Get voice alerts just like a NOAA weather radio via push notification anywhere in the United States.
• Hi-Def radar map is your home screen so you can quickly see what's going on at your locations.
• View current conditions, hourly and daily forecasts.
• Save additional locations to ensure family members stay safe.

View NOAA severe weather alerts on the map to see where dangerous weather is happening:
• Tap alerts to view info
• Show multiple severe weather layers on the map at the same time
• Flood watches & warnings
• Tornadoes & Thunderstorms
• Hurricane & Tropical Storm forecast tracks
• Winter storms
• Marine & Coastal alerts
• Radar & Clouds
• Wind Speed
• Snow Fall
• Road Weather

Enhance your app with auto-renewing subscriptions:

• Buy Premium Weather ($0.99 per month) to unlock these 3 features:
1) Future Radar - See forecasted radar imagery.
2) Future Temperature Map - See forecasted temperature map.
3) Storm Tracks - See how fast storms are moving and where in the next few minutes.

• Buy Lightning ($0.99 per month) to unlock these 2 features:

1) Get push notifications for lightning strikes near your locations.
2) See lightning on the map within 100 miles of a selected location.

• Payment will be charged to your Google Play Account at confirmation of your purchase.
• Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off before the end of the current period.
• Subscriptions may be managed by the user and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the Google Play Store menu and selecting 'Subscriptions' after purchase.
• After a free trial ends (if offered), your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription. You may cancel your subscription before your free trial is up to avoid being charged.

I paid for this app years ago. Bought a new phone with more storage and am able to re-download all my apps I had to uninstall due to insufficient storage space. Now, I have to pay a monthly fee just to have access to the same features I already paid for many years ago. Can't even access the lightning feature. That's absolutely ridiculous. This used to be a great app. I refuse to pay again (& monthly at that) for something I already did years ago. Lost a subscriber now. So disappointing!

This app has an alert that loudly announces any severe weather alert. The problem is that you cannot turn this feature off or even select which alerts for this app to announce. As a result my wife and I have been woken up many times in the middle of the night by my phone announcing that there is a "high winds" alert. Not a tornado mind you but gusts of winds that might make driving difficult for high profile vehicles. Wow, thanks for waking me up to save my life at 4am because - wind.

I paid for this app a few years ago. I was able to set location manually then. I can't now. I'm missing important alerts because of this. I don't like to keep location on on my phone because it uses too much battery plus I live in an area where we don't show up on Google Maps or on the post offices area. Google has their information wrong and we're having a hard time getting it fixed. Before when I could set my location manually I was able to get alerts for my area. I just missed an important thunderstorm warning because of this flaw. They need to restore the ability to set location manually. Otherwise this app is worthless.

You can still set your locations manually, and do not have keep current location enabled if you don't want to. You can send us a Support ticket from within your app, which gives us additional diagnostic data, and we can help answer any questions you have. You can also view these FAQs for more help:

What's new

Under-the-hood maintenance items are included in this release due to required code library changes by Google for the Android operating system. It's possible some older Android devices that are no longer supported may experience issues when trying to use the map.
