About this app

Anchor watch PRO is a position logger, remote instant message or email alarm and sound alarm and it monitors the device's current location and informs you if the location of the device changes too far away from the set anchor. In that case, it will sound an alarm and optionally send an message to another phone via instant messaging or email.

Please try free version of the app before buying this one to test if all functions are supported by your phone.

Please know that the performance and accuracy of the Anchor watch application depends on the hardware and software of the used device. If you have bad reception, please move the device to a location that has better satellite reception!

Because this application uses GPS to monitor movement, it will consume battery a bit faster than normally. We suggest you charge your device while using the app, although it's not necessary and the impact on battery life strongly depends on the specific device! There is also an advanced option to set GPS update intervals which might greatly improve battery life.

If GPS doesn't work, please bear in mind that it might be a hardware issue, as some devices have trouble getting a good GPS fix! We cannot do anything about that, nor can any other app.

Some device types have problems with some parts of the application, such as not providing proper GPS provider. Since those are per-device issues, we cannot guarantee to support each one.

FAQ
  ♦  If the application keeps loosing GPS signal when screen is turned off, try disabling battery optimizations of the specific phone. If that doesn't help, try enabling the option in application settings to keep screen on. We are researching alternative solutions.

Ratings and reviews

I Love the app. I do find it difficult to set the distances for the anchor. particularly when I try to orient the circle for the short and long distances. rotating the circle on the touch screen would be cool or perhaps a GUI way to adjust angles. the difficulty is referencing the bearings to the map orientation. A small compass rose overlay might help. Even just a NSEW label at the edges of the map.

I've been using this app for about 2 years with 2 different boats. It is still my goto app for watching the boat position at anchor. The only thing it is missing, that would be REALLY nice is the options to link two apps on two different phones so that rather than just getting an alert when the boat is outside the swing radius, the phone not on the boat can see the actual polyline history of the boat position in real time so that we can gauge how the boat is moving.

I'm a very experienced sailor and have been using this app for over a year. I think that it's excellent! I use the 'basic functions' of the app, and haven't messed with the messaging features. My approach to using the app is pretty straightforward in that every time I drop the anchor I'll 'set the Anchor Watch Pro either by using the "current location" at the moment I lower the anchor, or the 'advanced' location feature if I've already paid out my rode. One really fantastic thing that you can do with this app is to use it to check the 'set' of your anchor. So, after you have deployed your anchor and let out a sufficient amount of rode/scope then back down on your anchor to be see that it's holding. I have a catamaran and will put both engines in reverse at about 1/2 cruising RPM. While doing this I keep an eye on the app and look at the "distance from anchor" number and, once the tension is fully on the anchor, that distance number should not change much. I've had many occasions in which this little 'feature' of the app has saved me a lot of potential grief because it quickly showed that my anchor was moving. Highly recommended!!
