This will be the sixth time I've had to download the database in the last month. (Three times it disappeared on its own.) Why does each new version need the database downloaded? Updating and maintaining this app on my phone is taking way more of my time than it's worth. I'm done messing with it. Next time there's an update I'll just delete this and find a different app.
This is a great birding app I've had this app for almost 6 years, since my first smartphone, the original galaxy captivate. It has lots of pictures, and very good bird sounds, as well as descriptions , range maps and pretty much everything you would want in a bird app. I use it all the time, and the bird sounds has often been the clincher for identifying a bird. We've had trouble identifying a hawk that has been hanging here, and the sound confirmed it for us! Very useful and fun app, I recommend it!
Happy, Happy... After hours & hours of unsuccessfully trying to download the database in previous weeks, today using 4G I was successful. It took 30 minutes & ate 2GB of my allotted monthly time. Since I have accumulated 4GB of rollover (which I still have) it's no big thing. I had 2 - 2 minute timeouts, but it quickly resumed. I turned off 4G & WiFi then used the app successfully. Living in the wilds of AK I needed this. Thanks to the developers. My Interaction with them was the best. A++ & thanks. My old comments: ( I may not be able to get this to work in my remote area. But the developers get an A+ from me for listening, responding & trying.)
Have used the app for a couple of years and have always had a five star experience. Have been having similar problems to other users where downloaded database will disappear. This is problematic since I'm often in areas with no cell service and am fairly stingy on the data. Will redownload and hopefully it will stay around this time.
Fantastic. Filters can be a bit confusing. Spend some time getting accustomed to its usage. Also, have a good sized SD card and store it all there. More infomative and less bulk than a guide book.
Would be five stars if it remembered search parameters. Please work on this. Update 5/18/16… just updated now it simply crashes when i even try to select a location parameter… not impressed at this point. Updatethis i 5/20/16... Ok, after all this time and major updates they still cannot seem to get "Save Search Parameters" to work. Since its paid for I'll keep it but using Sibley's as main app for this reason. If I were a prospective buyer and this simple feature is important to me I would hold off on purchase.
