The Best Hands down, the best way to move beyond the guidebooks, especially in the field. Data is stored on your device so that a connection isn't needed to enjoy the full set of features (however, it does require nearly a gig of memory - - SD card suggested). Greatly improved over the original I had on my Thunderbolt, and runs beautifully on a Note 4. Any recent smartphone should eat it up. Worth twice the price.
I bought this app for my trip toTX last year, love the app. The reason for the rating of 3 is because i have had to uninstall twice now then re-install since the update. It works fine for a couple months than it won't open again. I hope they can get the extra bugs out. Where do I find the build number? I just updated when it was offered.... version 6.1.299, build 299 - - - - -i have GT-P5210
Overall great update! Thank you for the feedback, my old eyes eventually saw the button. I've upgraded to 5 stars, love it!! Original 4 star review -> For the most part I love it, but I don't like the new functionality of the menus. I miss being able to mark a bird as a favorite without having to go into a separate menu. I'll get used to it...
Great app! Huge selection of photos, calls, songs, and paintings that help with identification. Search features can be very helpful. Some search features give a far too limited list of birds though such as habitat or state "common". For example, the "desert" habitat search is missing some of the most common birds to the Sonoran and Mojave deserts (only 59 birds for desert habitat, need to have quite a few more. Doves, kestrel, red tail hawk, vultures, rock wren...). Overall still a great app and worth the money.
Pretty awesome I've attracted chickadees, cat birds even Northern flickers have done a fly by to check out the new "bird". Works pretty well in helping to identify in the field, when you aren't carrying a field guide in your back pocket. Just love listening to the bird calls.
Now allows non-WIFI updates! I live where the only Internet I can get is cells based, so that is very important to me. There are no public wireless hot spots. The latest update also gets through the 'resource check' much quicker. Still the best, especially after latest update.
