The Craig Daily Press is located in Craig Colo. which is 40 miles west of Steamboat Springs. The newspaper has roots back into the late 1800s and distributes 3500 copies Monday through Friday and 9500 copies Saturday in Craig and throughout Moffat and Rio Blanco County. The Craig Daily Press converted from a weekly publication to a daily paper Monday Feb. 11 1963. Craig is the seat of one of the largest geographic counties in Colorado which combines a rich tradition of the Old West with a new vision of economic growth. The area is home to a population that has demonstrated steady growth during the past decade with a growing retail base and some of the most productive coal mines in the world. In addition it is also known as the "big game" capital of Colorado as hunters from throughout the United States travel to Moffat County in the fall to hunt elk deer and antelope.
