Single best plant app for Idaho period. It is a simply amazing in its breadth! Made botanists out of novices.
Good if the flowers are blooming Using this app to identify plants as a volunteer and if the flowers are in bloom, it's easy. However, some have yet to bloom or are past blooming, so they have been more difficult to identify. Would be nice if leaf structure and size of plant were an option, and if all pictures showed the leaves as well as flower head. Now can search by plant family, thanks! Say I'm pretty sure it's a sedge or buckwheat, only seeing varieties of those is helpful. I'm learning more, so it'll start getting easier.
The Best Using a checklist method to bring up a possible list of plants is easy and user friendly. I like that it is Idaho specific, although this is a habitat diverse state, but you include habitats and county groups in the checklist. Also enjoy all the About Author/App and instructions menu. One bug with that menu there is no way to get back home quickly, can only press back through all of it. If that bug gets fixed I will gladly rate it 5 stars.
A really excellent app This free app developed by someone who isn't a professional botanist is better than most of the paid apps available in the region. I'm an ecologist and have used this app fairly extensively in the field and in the office. I love that you can search based on flower timing, region, elevation, and leaf arrangement, since this can usually substantially pare down my options and get me to an ID much faster. The offline capacity to search is very helpful.
Added more species, plant photos and descriptions. Fixed no-link bug.
