About this app

Stop overthinking, anxiety and worry - with CBT and ACT tools built for real life.

Formerly Luma: same app, same account. It may still show the Luma name and icon on your phone until our next update.

Your brain won't switch off. You keep circling the same worry, picking apart every outcome, every possibility, every mistake. You know it's not helping. But you can't seem to stop.

WorryTree was built for exactly this. It's a pocket toolkit for anxious thoughts, intrusive thoughts and panic - built on CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy), two widely used, evidence-based approaches to managing stress, overthinking and emotional overwhelm.

Named best CBT app by Marie Claire. As featured in The Guardian and Well+Good. Named “Hot Right Now” on the Apple App Store.

🧠 What WorryTree Helps You Do
- Catch overthinking spirals before they take hold
- Reframe anxious, intrusive or negative thoughts using CBT techniques
- Get more comfortable with uncertainty and the unknown
- Build daily habits that create mental clarity and calm
- Regulate your emotions with sensory grounding tools
- Practice acceptance and self-compassion with ACT

🌟 Tools You'll Find in WorryTree
- Thought Reframing (CBT-based)
- Acceptance Reflection Journal (ACT)
- Uncertainty Journal (ACT)
- Emotional Weather Check-In
- Values Compass & Goal Setting (ACT)
- Habit Tracker
- Gratitude Practice
- Sensory Grounding Techniques
- The WorryTree Technique
- Progress insights to build consistency

👤 Built Around a Technique Therapists Teach
The worry tree is a CBT exercise many therapists use: write the worry down, ask whether you can do anything about it, then make a small plan or let it go for now. WorryTree started in 2019 to make that exercise easy to use day to day — not just on your worst days, but on ordinary ones too, before things spiral. It's for people who want structure and evidence, not apps that tell you to breathe and hope for the best.

I dont consider threat of payment if you forget a free trial if im being honest haha, didnt realize this was a subscription paid app, had read about it being helpful and looked it up, but I dont like having to make an account and then delete account if I dont like the app. Theres no way to poke around the app and see if you like it before signing up for an account, and then find out theres no free limited version or One Time Pay. Is there a site w more info? Appreciate the quick reply. thanks!

Morning and thank you again for sharing your feedback, I do take your point around having no way to really take a look without creating an account. You can find out a little more on our website (myluma.app) and if you'd like to take a look at a walkthrough of a specific tool try here: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/2goAkJfLCpc

The app is excellent. I've seen complaints about the cost, but it's not greed - far from it. Parts are totally free, and at roughly £15 per year, it's affordable for almost everyone in the UK. The business must have operating costs, so I'm happy to pay it. Perhaps there could be an option to sponsor the cost of someone who can't afford it. But yes, making CBT exercises digitally accessible transforms the effectiveness of the techniques for me.

Hi James, thank you so much for your kind words - it's so good to read that you're finding WorryTree effective for your CBT practices. I absolutely love your idea of providing an option to sponsor the cost of our app for someone who can't afford it and so we'll definitely be looking into how we might make that work. Best wishes, Louise (Founder)

I've been using Worry Tree/Luma for a few years after someone recommended it. It's refreshing to use an app that doesn't reward you for using it more. It's just there when you need it. The paid upgrades are really worth getting, I've found using the app has changed how I think about things day to day, so much so that I'm not sure how much longer I'll need to use it!

Thank you so much for your kind review - it means so much to me to know that Luma has helped and that you're getting to the point that you might not need to use it anymore! Of course, don't forget it's always there if you need it and we all have dips when we need a refresher, I do too! Best wishes, and thanks again Crystal. Louise (Founder of Luma)

What’s new

We've upgraded Luma's encryption, so every worry you log is protected end-to-end and private to you. Same Luma, same care, just stronger protection behind the scenes.

We're a small team building Luma, and this update was about your peace of mind.
