App suicide I used to love this app so much. It was anonymous, you could post in your herd while you weren't there and you could create a little community. I didn't mind the handles change but after the recent update where there is no herd (and you can only post where you are), you are forced to have a profile and can no longer turn off your handle when you post, and made it harder for users in general, I am livid. Yik yak, I have never EVER seen an app destroy what made it best so quickly. Please go back to before.
It was fine before I don't like the recent changes at all. Herds were one of the cool things about yik yak and I liked being able to comment on things happening at school while I'm not there. I'm not so worried about anonymity but I did like it when we could choose to display our handles. Why can't apps stay in their own lane?
Great Potential, Poor Execution Yik yak had a really good idea when they first came out. Their ability to post anonymously in your area or globally made for an entertaining time. Some where, they made a decision to become more comparable to the likes of twitter or facebook. At the rate of changes yik yak is making, the experience is changing as well. Basically, its not worth the download anymore.
RIP Yik Yak Look. I love the yak team, they've always had great customer support and I previously gave this app five stars. Buy this latest update quite literally killed Yik Yak. It's like all those movies where the guy goes to bed and wakes up and everyone's dead and the place is deserted. That guy is me, and the place is Yik Yak. After this update, there are no herds, no sorting, no anonymity, forced handles, and no college recognition. This app was incredible. Keyword WAS.
Why change it Yik yak took away everything that made it great and made people want to use it in the first place. I really want to know what they were thinking with this change. I live 30 minutes away from my campus so now i cant keep connected with my herd when I'm not here for classes. And I don't even want to post anymore without the option for anonymity.
The update is horrible I used to love this app. It was a great way to casually interact with other students on campus. Being able to see your herd even when you're away from campus. Sharing experiences, asking quick questions, sharing advice, campus inside jokes, etc. All while being able be anonymous. Now the forced profiles takes away from everything. We can't conncect with our campus unless we're on it. And we can't even see top yaks from our herd. The app lost all of its uniqueness. 👎👎👎
This update’s packed with features to help you feel even more connected to your local herd!
#Now: Share what you’re up to now (watching football? learning to juggle?) as another way to spark a connection.
Local Yakkers: Find & connect with other Yakkers who are also down to hike or binge-watch GoT.
Explore: A fresh new Explore tab houses all sorts of ways to explore the world around you.
