The Golden Circle can be done in a day on a tourist bus or at more leisurely pace by car or even bicycle. The map includes the waterfall of Gullfoss, the spectacular geysers of Geysir, Þingvellir (Thingvellir) national park, and Hveragerði greenhouse village.
Volcanism plays an important role in the Icelandic landscape and tourist sights. The map is customised to show you the terrain, locations of volcanoes and the approximate location of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge dividing Iceland into North American and European halves.
The map is based on OpenStreetMap data, http://www.openstreetmap.org. It includes all the main roads. Reykjavik is superbly well mapped right down to individual side-walks and 968 park benches! Coverage of things to do and see and most amenities such as hotels, eating places, major shops, banks is very good. Coverage of rural areas is good but not 100%. You can help improve it by becoming an OpenStreetMap contributor. We provide you with free periodic updates.
Turn-by-turn navigation is available on devices running Android 2.3 or higher.
Navigation will show you an indicative route and can be configured for car, bicycle or foot. The developers provide it without any guarantee that it is always correct. For example, it does not show turn restrictions - places where it is illegal to turn. Some rural roads may be suitable for four-wheel drive vehicles only and/or for people familiar with the area and terrain. Use with care and above all look out for and obey road signs.
System requirements: An memory card with at least 30 MB of free space. GPS not required for basic route display. A GPS device is needed for turn-by-turn navigation and finding out where you are.
We hope it does not happen to you but: Like most small developers, we cannot test a wide variety of phones and tablets. If you have trouble running the application, do email us and we will try to help.
Key words: Map of Reykjavik, Reykjavik map. Map of Reykjavik, Reykjavik map, Iceland offline map. Golden Circle
