Tide Prediction works completely OFFLINE (except Google Maps integration) - meaning no costs for data traffic - and is ultra-fast.
The graphical tide chart also nicely indicates the daylight distribution. An event view shows the times for ebb and flood.
* tides for over 3000 tide and current stations world-wide (therefore, the app takes considerable space on your phone)
* uses your GPS and/or network provider to support location search
Please mail any issues and improvements. Thanks!
NOT FOR NAVIGATION. NO WARRANTY OF ANY KIND.
PLEASE NOTE: due to the underlying dataset, tide location coverage is limited to the following countries: USA, Canada, Mexico UK, Germany, Netherlands, South Africa, Japan, Australia, New Zealand
for all you boating people out there.
1. Navigation screen compass , GPS , time , speed knots
2. Weather screen shows nearest inland weather or shipping.
3. Add a way point screen
4. Tides nearest first, click for next 7 days.
Lots of tides mainly England,france,spain,portugal,
The app will get location from Cell or GPS and display closest
10 tides in distance order, also the weather is sorted with
closest location first.
You can select UK inshore or shipping forecast
from the menu feature.
Menu update-tides will down load the latest tides
and weather, when in new location always do a
update when you can.
The upgrade will allow you to make a small donation
to remove the adds.
Tides are GMT so add 1 hour for British summer time.
Always have another source of data to check with,
as data can be damaged during download.
All tide data is downloaded from www.ukho.gov.uk
with there permission.
No adds or dubious permission requirements, this is truly FREE.
Tide Guide calculates the Tides, Sun/Moon rise and set times, Lunar phases for any date.
Easily select any date past or future with the simple calendar widget.
Simply select from 2517 ports.
I am sorry but because of legal reasons many ports have been removed.
If anyone has legal, free access to harmonics for other ports I will gladly incorporate them into the program.
But if you live in a country where this is not available then talk to your countries tidal authority.
I have not done much in the way of Help.
However the way program works should be pretty obvious.
The program uses hot spots on the screen to move days viewed.
Check out the menu.
Initially there is an overlay to show the hot areas and what they do (this overlay can easily be turned off in the help menu).
The code is based on work I started in 1994. I began using the Admiralty Manual of Tides Australia and adapted various algorithms from Meus later I have incorporated some of the algorithms from XTide code (basically some code for calculating astronomical arguments). Unlike XTide and it's derivatives, the code calculates all astronomical positions on the fly.
It is difficult to know if this makes it more or less accurate as the original calculations for all port constituents have been based on Almanacs and speeds over a 12 month period. However tide prediction without incorporating atmospheric pressure levels specifically can only ever be a guide at best.
This program is not for navigation or to be used in any way where life or property is at risk.
I wrote this program primarily for myself.
If it is useful to you wonderful (then I also wrote this for you, and will help you improve your experience with it, if I can).
If the program is not useful just uninstall it it didn't cost you anything (I am not really interested in your negative opinions).
Provide query and analysis of real-time tidal data anywhere on the sea , also includes tide graph, phrases of the moon, fishing condition prediction and other feature
You can get real-time tide data at any time within the next year, and the historical data within a week before.
You can directly search for the location by entering coordinates, you can also search the location by map. And the apps can locate quickly in order to get the tidal data about the place where you are.
You can keep and manage your focusing places, and you can add notes to these places in order to facilitate the management.
Offer registration and login function, you can synchronize your favorites to another device.
Transcription errors are unlikely but possible. This program shouldn't be used where life or property is at risk. No Warranty.
Works till at least end of 2013.

- Green Bars indicate good major and minor fishing times (major longer, minor shorter bar)
- Blue Bars indicate low and high tide times.
- Center indicates moonphase
- Gray current time indicator
- top right of screen has a day rating indicator ( 1-4 fishes, fair to excellent )

Boatie is a handy source of information for all who enjoy recreational boating in UK coastal waters - whether sailing or motoring, either in a motor boat, yacht or dinghy.
The 5 sections are:
Navigation: displays your current GPS position, speed-over-ground (SOG), course-over-ground (COG), as well as distance and heading to user-configurable waypoints. Waypoints can be stored in folders. A built-in compass also shows the bearing and distance to your selected waypoint.
Weather: displays the current UK weather general situation, inshore forecast, shipping forecast, and 4 day synoptic charts for the UK and NW Europe.
Tide: displays 7 day tide tables for over 700 primary and secondary ports from UK, Ireland and the Channel Islands. Also displays calculated sunrise and sunset times, the current moon phase and calculated moonrise and moonset times.
Tidal Stream: displays calculated tidal streams for common tidal diamond around the UK for up to 7 days. You can zoom into any specific area of the map around UK waters for more detailed tidal information.
Reference: an useful set of information easily to hand whether you're out on the water or doing your theory course. It currently includes:
- Day shapes
- Navigation lights
- Sound signals
- Beaufort scale
- Forecast terminology
- Inshore forecast areas map
- 5 year lunar calendar
- Signal flags
- Phonetic alphabet
- VHF channels
- IALA A buoyage
So, next time you are meeting your crew in the pub or planning your weekend on the boat, use Boatie to get the key information you need on your Android phone.
Please do let me know your feedback - particularly if you find problems (I will do my best to address any issue if you contact me directly) or if you have suggestions for future improvements. I'm also very grateful for the positive reviews entered in the Google Play store - it’s a great way of showing your appreciation.
The new release adds many features for optimal approaching to the start line.
A minimun display resolution 400*240 is required.
The following information are provided in a glance.
1) When navigating to the next waypoint (see figure 1):
- target waypoint bearing (orange point)
- target waypoint air distance (orange number on top right)
- real boat speed (red number on top right)
- real wind direction (blue arrow)
- layline position (green line)
- distance to layline (red number on top left)
- distance along layline (green number)
- total distance to target waypoint (red number on bottom= distance to layline + distance along layline)
- effective speed to target (red number on bottom)
- polar diagram of effective speed
2) When approaching the start line (see figure 2):
-start line position as bearing of right and left ends (green arc and red and green points)
-boat route and its intersection with start line (red dotted line)
-distance to the nearest point of start line (orange number on top left)
-distance to the start line along current route (green number on the top left)
-time to start line with current route and speed (green number on the bottom center)
-time to the nearest point of start line with current speed (orange number on the bottom center)
-count down timer (blue number on the bottom center)
All you have to do is to insert the waypoint position and wind direction then Regatta will display the route to target with layline and polar diagram of effective boat speed.
The polar diagram is not the usual polar diagram that is a boat intrinsic. The effective speed is the airline distance to target divided by the estimated time to target, given the current route going to layline and then to target along the layline. The effective speed is an index of effectiveness of route and varies with the route angle. The polar diagram shows you which is the route angle that optimizes the time to target and compares effective speeds for different angles.
There are many ways to insert waypoints. You can do it manually or using a map or using Regatta as a bearing compass.
You can find more info here: http://www.embedia.it/files/regatta/man_en_5_0.pdf.
The Regatta Basic is a demonstration version limited in the number of waypoints that can be memorized in the same time (max 4 including 2 for start line) and in total number of waypoints (max 30).
