A theoretical learning programme for geography, biology and environmental education classes in secondary schools.
The application covers two principal fields. The first three chapters introduce students to Earth remote sensing, explaining the importance of satellites and how they work. The other chapters describe particular global issues: ocean pollution, diminishing tropical forests, and desertification. The application makes use of interactive tasks, tests, 3D visualisations and satellite images. It also involves working with augmented reality; the augmented reality module needs to be downloaded as a separate application. The time scope of the programme is 3 school classes.
The application is complemented with an encyclopaedia that can also be downloaded for free.
Teaching aids: tablets, printed material for making satellite models
It is also possible to download teacher’s instructions and materials for making paper satellite models.
The learning programme has been developed with support from the following projects: ESA Contr. No. 4000112213/14/PA – ESERO Czech Republic OP VK Ipo.
