I ran DAKboard on an Android Tablet in a fullscreen browser. The developer took some suggestions I had to create a layout that would work for a tablet since this was made for a larger screen and listened and implemented them. Then a couple of weeks later... BAM! This came out. It's so simple, and exactly what I needed. I'm thinking about picking up a few more cheap tablets and throwing them around the house so we can have more DAKboards and the family can always be up to date! Thank you!
Update: the app seems to be more stable now, it would be nice to be able to change the screen off settings. Best layout of any other smart mirror app, with a lot of user enabled custom settings. The bad: Logs you out constantly and there's no way to save your login info. So every time you exit, or leave the app you are typing in your user name and password. It even logs you out flipping from vertical to horizontal.
Edit: it will not log in. After setting username and password it will refresh screen back to login screen... Looks Great. Suggestions for uptades:1) there is no need to sign in every time, 2) new screens with favorite apps already launched so that you can control them from dakboard for example music control
The app itself works great when logged in. However, requiring login at each launch with no way to store credentials is a fatal flaw for what should be a no fuss app. Adding the ability to "remember" the user would make a world of difference in my use. Not a viable day to day app until that happens.
Love DAKboard, but the Android app now fails to work on any Android device I've tried. logging in just reroutes you back to the logon screen. This is not a failed logon, because typing the wrong password does in fact tell you that incorrect credentials were used. I hope they fix this soon, i'll be happy to update my rating once this is fixed.
This app is finally fulfilling its potential. It is clean and easy to set up and, thanks to a recent update, it stores login details. I'm hoping to use it on an old tablet in a magic mirror project. My only niggle is that there is no obvious way to get back tot he screen display after using the in-app settings, The "back" action takes me to the tablet homescreen, not the display itself. It may also be a limitation of the old tablet I'm running it on but it would be nice if the 3 system buttons (back, home and switch) could be hidden.
Added functionality to prevent the screen from sleeping. Added support for older versions of Android.
