Excellent interface for gameplay, and blessedly free of ads, this is a great program. Only reason for the 4-star review instead of 5 is a lack of analysis features. In particular the AI tends to resign pretty early once it starts losing, but I'd often like to see roughly what the AI thinks the score difference would have been, which groups it thought were probably alive, or at least to disallow the resignation to force it to play through some more interesting cases, but there's nothing like that. The game just ends and it's over.
Good interface I like the interface. It won't give strong players much of a challenge though. I'm AGA 1 dan and on the hardest difficulty it resigned against me after about 140 moves the first time I played it. I hadn't even killed anything, I was just 30 or 40 points ahead just from surrounding territory more efficiently.
Usee Interface not the Best The stone controls are not ideal. Double tap to confirm move is not intuative and you need to be accurate in your finger placement. Also hold to zoom in is not standard. A better method would be to drag stone with offset from finger and maybe crosslines to indicate exact position. Also the standard pinch finger technique to zoom in and out would be better than hold down finger.
Excellent! I use GOdroid daily and it's improved my game a lot. It is extremely strong at life-and-death problems but weak at whole board awareness. If you don't play larger than 13x13, it will keep you on your toes. The UI and settings options are fine. My biggest issue is that you can't interrupt its thinking to undo a move but that's pretty minor.
Excellent This is an excellent app for those who have already been playing for a while. The controls take a bit to get used to, and I do wish I had a bigger device to play this on - even 13x13 board has rather small stones, not to mention 19x19. But as away to have a quick game and as a practice tool it really is rather irreplaceable. Go Free is a somewhat better alternative for complete beginners. These two programs are very compatible, with no real overlap in strength, it is an almost seamless transition in terms of "graduating" from one to another. So for those who are still struggling to beat GoDroid and don't want to play handicapped game, give that one a try.
Richard Very enjoyable app. I like the double click to position stones it eliminates miss clicks and let's you look at possibilities. Being able to undo moves has helped improve my game. As a hint I learned that to avoid a bug my game froze at one point exit the game and then hit square button, tiling open apps, and you see game is not fully shut down. Slide it off to fully exit. Then when you play again it is a clean restart.
