This app will accompany you during your discovery tour through the Bauhaus city Dessau.
Whether you use it before, during or after your visit, this app offers many useful suggestions and lots of information about current events around the centenary of
Bauhaus as well as about its unique history in its time in Dessau.
An interactive map will guide you to the famous Bauhaus buildings such as the Masters' Houses, the Bauhaus Building or Walter Gropuis's Employment Office. The new Bauhaus Museum and other facilities of the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation are represented as well with current service information, events and maps.
A very special feature is the work of Berlin composer and sound designer David Kamp, "Bauhaus Sound". The unique sound composition enriches the exhibitions as well as the buildings of the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation with its experimental sound level. More than one hundred sound elements create an infinte sound composition. Accoustic minitures, surrounding topics of the Bauhaus which were created using recordings of rooms, workshops, design objects and historical material taken from the building research archive of the Bauhaus Dessau foundation, form the basis and the sound material. Since the different audio parts are combined randomly, every listener listens to a unique and individual composition. An atmospheric sound scenery of noisy and musical tones, created through knocking, coating and rubbing of glass, metal and rock, the pure atmosphere of the Masters' Houses, accompanied with fragments of Bauhaus poems, comes into being.
The app also offers an insight to other places inside the famous Bauhaus building that are otherwise not accesible to the public: a 360 degree panorama shows the auditorium with its stage, the cafeteria, the office of Walter Gropius, a studio inside the atelier building and the roof terrace of this building.
True to the motto "Experiment Bauhaus", this interactive guide also has an experimental character. With the opening of the Bauhaus museum Dessau, we start our app with an inspiring basic version. More playful and participatory elements will follow. We are looking forward to your feedback and your suggestions!
