Listening is a pleasure. With the news that Google is ditching podcasts I was looking for a new player. This came out well in reviews and I'm so glad I tried it. Easy import of my old podcasts meant quick set up and I think I've got the hang of the inbox now. It manages downloads so I only have 25 on my phone. That's enough for the train to work without taking up too much space. As soon as WiFi is available it tops them up and deletes the played. Perfect

Close, but not exact replacement for Google Podcasts. Playback of pods works fine, but casting to a device is clunky. It stops the podcast & seems to need manual intervention to restart it. Also, it would be nice if the forward & back buttons appeared in the widget. I'd also like a list of new episodes that shows everything without having to click into news. But functionally, it does what it says on the packet: plays podcasts.

Hi Claire, thanks for that honest review! Casting is on our radar (but not easy to improve). If you remove and re-add the widget, you can now choose which buttons are displayed, including rewind, fast forward and skip. For a list of new episodes, we recommend using the Inbox. But if that doesn't cater to your needs, please let us know what's missing

It's good. Doesn't have categories or auto playlists like beyondpod, but it's not abandonware like beyondpod either. In fact it can never be, it is open source! There are some other things about how it behaves but one thing I just learned is that downloading automatically puts it in the queue, you don't have to do that separately. It does bog down a lot with a lot of podcasts and/or a lot of episodes in the queue, not sure which.
