About this app:
With the literature path app of the university town of Tübingen you can go on your own to search for the 40 literature path plaques in the city, or take one of the literary city walks. At the individual stations you can listen to literary texts that have been written there. You can also use the app to take an audio tour of the Hölderlin Tower Museum to learn more about Hölderlin's life and work and then walk a poem run in the museum garden to the rhythm of Hölderlin's verses.
About the literature path:
Nowhere else does European literary and intellectual history come together as closely as in the narrow rows of houses in Tübingen's old town: Friedrich Hölderlin, Ludwig Uhland, Eduard Mörike and Hermann Hesse laid the cornerstone of their literary work in Tübingen. Johann Friedrich Cotta, the publisher of the Weimar Classic, built his publishing empire here. And the Tübingen narrators Isolde Kurz and Ottilie Wildermuth were among the most read writers of their time. The Tübingen Literature Trail makes this great literary heritage accessible and audible with the help of the app and 40 wall plaques.
About the Hölderlin Tower Museum:
The striking building on the Neckar is named after the poet Friedrich Hölderlin (1770-1843), who spent the second half of his life here. Today the Hölderlinturm is one of the most important places of remembrance in literary history. A permanent multimedia exhibition, which opened in February 2020, enables Hölderlin's poems to be experienced with all the senses. Take an audio tour of the Hölderlin Tower Museum with the app to learn more about Hölderlin's life and work and then walk the poem run in the museum garden in rhythm with Hölderlin's verses.
All locations on the literary path were given a plaque to mark them as stations along the path. You can use the app to search for the 40 literature trail badges distributed throughout the city. The poems and short prose pieces in the app were produced in cooperation with the SWR studio Tübingen and recorded by Peter Binder and Andrea Schuster.
