The FASD app serves parents of children and adolescents with a Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) for daily assessment of their child's behavior and parental resources. This gives an overall picture of the complexity of the illness of the child or adolescent with FASD and the quality of life of the family.
The FASD app is structured like a calendar with two parts:
In the first part, when you click on the day in the calendar, you will be asked how your child's everyday functionality was in five areas (attention, everyday tasks, behavior at home, behavior in kindergarten / school and sleep) on the current day.
In the second part, you can indicate how you felt about your personal resources and stresses on that day.
If you consistently fill out this calendar in the FASD app, you will receive a detailed, near-real-time documentation of your child's impairment history (with a focus on behavior and adaptation) and your own resources. This process is summarized in the form of a graph as a FASD report visualized in the app.
You can download the FASD Report as a pdf and make it available to those who, from your point of view, are important for the care of your child (e.g. caring doctors, psychologists, pedagogues, therapists, social pediatric centers, child and adolescent psychiatry, youth welfare offices, Districts etc.).
Of course, you are also free to use the calendar only for yourself or your family and to keep the results to yourself - you as the closest carer can decide!
The results of the FASD app are saved ANONYMOUSLY, WITHOUT tracing back to you personally, in the database of the project German FASD COMPETENCE CENTER Bavaria in order to evaluate how often the FASD app is used and with what result. This serves to continuously improve the FASD app as a possible component of an innovative intervention strategy.
We look forward to using the FASD app and thereby helping to give new impulses for the care of children and adolescents with FASD!
