Good but not perfect I use MN with VMH charts. It's a pretty good combo, but if I were to be picky I'd identify a couple of irritations: first, although you can save tracks, I can't see a way to view them; second the route editor allows you to append or prepend waypoints (in one menu), and to append, prepend or insert route points (in another), but you can't insert waypoints. But these really are quibbles in that the MN/VMH combo gives you a full up-to-date set of charts and a fullspec marine grade chartplotter.
Great app, although there is little learning curve to get used to things. I wish there was a quick tutorial. Here are two notes: First, it takes a while to import maps, so be prepared to let your device sit while while it imports the vector files. Each map was like 5-10 minutes so I definitely want to plan ahead for this. Second, I wanted all my relevant maps in the same folder zip file, because that way they will all show up in the same folder for the automatic switching. If I import each map in a different folder zip file, it's more cumbersome to switch back and forth. After selecting a new folder, I have to quit the app and restart it (which is fast) for the map auto-switching to take effect. Overall, this is a truly awesome app, bringing in the high quality NOAA charts aligned with GPS capability to see exactly where I am. Thank you for putting together such a great app.
No External GPS Compatability App loads NOAA charts nicely. However, with an external GPS (tablet does not have an integrated GPS) no position is marked by this app. Google Maps is able to mark position with both the USB and Bluetooth external GPS units I use. Disappointing.
I have used this program with the VMH charts for two years on my Hudl 2 Android tablet and think it is excellent for coastal and open water navigation. I prefer it to the Navionics app I also have. I am planning to take it on a passage from Plymouth to the Cape Verdes as a back-up. The only problem I have is the tracks not showing, but could well be a Hudl glitch Thanks very much for a great app.
Points the Way Recently used in channel islands and north Brittany having downloaded charts from VMH. Worked flawlessly. Would like tidal currents as per Navionics and a way of importing tracks, routes and waypoints from memorymap
This is the best navigation app. It has gotten me into my mooring many times.
