I was looking for something to replace My Tracks after that was discontinued by Google. Most other apps are too "sports" related. This app has the sports aspect if required, but is also great for just tracking where you've been. I mostly use it for logging walks around the local neighborhood. I also love the maps on this app. They're much less "clinical" than the maps on other apps and show a clear distinction between urban and rural areas, which is useful.
Came across this when I bought my Elemnt. Great for planning cycling routes and syncs effortlessly with the elemnt. It is now my 'Go to' route planner. The interface is intuitive and fairly clear. The Web page equivalent affords more options and gives more detail, but the app is more than adequate and handy on the go. With the right phone attachment it would work as a standalone bike computer and is similar to strava in that mode. Has voice prompts as with a car sat nav - may need bluetooth ear buds for it to be effective when cycling. Post code searches would be a helpful addition.
Very good app. Especially since the recent updates with the improved elevation profile etc. Very nice job. One problem. I wish you could "force" the app to go plan a route over a highway. E. G. Fairbanks, Alaska to Calgary, it suggests a huge detour simply because there is a small stretch of interstate somewhere on which you are allowed to cycle. The app may warn about it, but not simply not allow the planning.
No offline maps (u.s.a.) only one option which is the world map at 29.99usd. Nothing but a spam app unless you pay that. Useless.
Imho best app for tracking/planning bike or hiking tours, etc. I even took it onto the slopes this year and it let me track snowboard tours diaplaying gradient, speed, altitude... Recommended!
Earlier this year I used Komoot to cycle around Europe, but I didn't take the time to get familiar with it first . my suggestion is to use it first at home and plan trips and download them I case you run out of data and to preserve the battery life of the phone or tablet . it is a very cool app
This latest version of komoot gives you more control over your account and privacy settings—without ever having to leave the app.
Komoot 9.5 brings you a new and improved settings menu, with which you can update everything from your about me and username, to your login details and more—changes that were previously only possible on komoot.com. You can also define who and how other people find your profile—and curate what they see when they do.
