About this app

“Leipzig '89” is a multilingual audio guide that leads to the 20 stele locations in the Leipzig urban area where important actions took place that contributed to the overthrow of the SED dictatorship.

Users of the GPS-supported city tour can independently explore the events of the Peaceful Revolution and the changes in the city since 1989 directly on site.

The “Leipzig ’89” app makes the events of the Peaceful Revolution visible and audible and thus also tangible for the senses. GPS-supported maps and route navigation guide the user directly to the individual stations. Using QR codes on the steles, the app can be downloaded directly onto mobile devices or the respective station can be accessed directly. Now a variety of original photos, documents and contemporary film material supplement the information on the steles and the audio guide.
