About this app

VocaBox – Vocabulary that actually sticks.

VocaBox is the vocabulary trainer for students and anyone learning a new language. At its heart sits the proven Flashcard Box – but digital, intelligent, and always with you.

Try the app at your own pace with your first 100 words – free, no account needed. If you like VocaBox, a one-time in-app purchase raises the word limit up to 100,000 and unlocks every feature for good. No subscription, no hidden costs.

THE FLASHCARD BOX, REIMAGINED

The Flashcard Box is the heart of VocaBox. It brings words back exactly when you'd otherwise forget them – not more often, not less. Its 6 compartments give your learning structure: words you already know move from compartment to compartment toward the front. Words you still struggle with stay at the back and come around more often.

AN IMAGE FOR EVERY WORD

Pair every word with your own image. Learning through pictures lets you think directly in the new language – no detour through translation. Especially powerful for visual learners, beginners, and kids.

YOUR STATS, YOUR STREAK

Track your progress at a glance: how many words you've learned today, this week, and overall, your success rate, and where the gaps still are. The weekly streak turns learning into a habit – every day counts.

YOUR WORDS, YOUR PACE

Start in seconds with the free starter pack: 8 ready-made folders, 543 essential words, beautiful images – available for every language pair. Beyond that you add exactly what you want to learn: school vocabulary from your textbook, travel words for a trip, professional terms for university, or your own personal lists. No hidden paid packs – your words, your order.

VOCABULARY TEST AND EXERCISES

When you want to test your knowledge under real conditions: the vocabulary test quizzes you like an exam, with direct repetition of words you got wrong. Four exercise types – multiple choice, pair mode, first letter, and letter sort – keep practice varied.

LISTEN TO YOUR LISTS

Have your entire word list read aloud in one go. Perfect for long car rides or as a break between sessions – without needing to look at the screen.

SHARE YOUR LISTS

Share your lists with classmates, study groups, or your own students via .vbxshare file. Open the file, import, go.

IMPORT FROM EXCEL

Already have your words in an Excel sheet (XLSX)? Import them with one tap.

ONE-TIME PURCHASE. NO SUBSCRIPTION.

Instead of a monthly fee, a one-time in-app purchase raises the word limit of the free version – after that you can add up to 100,000 of your own words and use every feature permanently. Works offline, no account needed, your data stays on your device. The built-in backup secures your progress whenever you want and moves it seamlessly to another device.

I am using the app for 2 years now and I really like it. I made the update today and I find it difficult to adjust the days for the flashcards, now. It's hard to stop on the exact number of days you want. A plus/minus button to adjust the days is easier. I am a bit sad to see that the price has raised to 7 €. My sister wanted to install it, because I told her the old price, but now she won't.

Thanks for the advice with the slider. Maybe I can find a better solution. I find it tiresome to discuss price. If you knew how much work went into the app and how much work went into the update, you might think differently. Especially since I don't get the full 7€ paid out ;) Best regards Marcel

It's a really good app to memorize vocabulary and I like the concept. It's one of the few Apps I really think about buying it, which is actually why I gave only 4 stars. Without paying, one can only save 50 words. It's okay to me because I can just delete vocabs I've already learned but might annoy other people~

Interface could be better. Some deatures are weirdly hidden (like deleting boxes e.g.). The learning concepts are great, but the input options for your vocabulary is lacking some features. If you want to include endings (male, female) in brackets, articles, prepositions or anything, you constantly get them wrong when they're asked for.
