phagifit – therapy-accompanying app for dysphagia treatment

What is phagifit?
phagifit is an app that was developed specifically for people with dysphagia (swallowing problems). phagifit is used jointly by the patient and the therapist (speech therapist). In the hybrid model, phagifit is used in parallel to conventional face-to-face therapy.
With phagifit, we want to promote self-training at home for people with dysphagia, support therapists in providing individually suitable exercise content and enable holistic treatment that has an impact on the patients' everyday lives and which meaningfully complements face-to-face therapy.


What are the functions of phagifit?

For patients:
• Custom Video Instructions: Access a variety of exercise videos tailored specifically to your needs. Your treating therapist can regularly release new exercise videos for you. The exercise videos support you in carrying out functional muscle exercises as well as using special swallowing techniques and postural changes. Comprehensible and interactive instructions guide you step by step through the exercises. In this way, you can actively contribute to making the swallowing process more pleasant, effective and safe again.
• Automatic exercise reminder: Receive regular, automated reminders of your exercise program. This means your training isn't forgotten, but can be integrated into your everyday life.
• Progress tracking: Keep an eye on your therapy success and stay motivated.
• Dietary recommendations: Receive regular, individual recommendations from your therapist regarding diet and/or adjustment of the consistency of food and liquids to enable safe swallowing.
• Background knowledge: Get to know background information on the subject of dysphagia in various knowledge articles and receive practical tips on how to deal with a swallowing disorder in everyday life. Also interesting for relatives.

For therapists:
• Exercise database: Regularly activate exercise videos suitable for your patients from the extensive database. The videos include restorative (functional muscle exercises) and compensatory (swallowing techniques and postural changes) measures. In addition, you can activate adaptive measures (dietary recommendations in text form / bullet points with example photos) for your patients.
• Practice organization: Reduce organizational and copying effort when compiling and submitting individually suitable therapy homework for your patients. Keep an eye on the exercise progress.
• Tips for designing dyphagia therapy: Get high-quality professional input and methodical security for your own therapy design through the extensive exercise and knowledge database.
