About this app

intelliMove controls, whether the screen of your device should go off or stays on by detecting if the device is in use. It is a so called "screen on" tool. It's simply bothering, when you are looking at your device (without touching it) and the screen goes off after reaching the display timeout.

How does keep screen on works?
Keeping screen on works by examining the angle in which the device is being used (or hold). If the device is within a specified range (configured via preferences) the screen will not go off, because intelliMove assumes the device is in use. intelliMove comes with predefined orientation ranges for different device types (e. g. tablet or smartphone) so that a range configuration is usually not necessary. intelliMove keeps the screen on when you need it!
Furthermore, it is optionally possible to add a face detection using the device front camera. This feature only gets activated, when the device is out of configured orientation range and tries to determine, whether someone is looking at the device.

What else can intelliMove do?
intelliMove can extend the battery life of your device. Because intelliMove detects when the device is not in use the screen timeout value can be set to the minimal value (e.g. 15 seconds).
In case the device isn't used anymore, the screen goes off after the minimal configured timeout and not after waiting 2 minutes (or whatever long value is configured in settings)
The display is the biggest battery consumer of the device and drains the battery the most ... intelliMove can help to reduce those massive drains!

What do you have to keep in mind?
intelliMove itself might have a negative impact on the battery. The use of the face detection feature using the front camera drains the battery. Especially in those cases, when the chosen orientation range is very small. Because then, the front camera gets activated very often to check whether someone is looking at the device.
To avoid this, you should either stay with the default orientation range configuration or choose a broad one.
The face detection is still in experimental state. It achieves good results on devices which are used by default in portrait mode and not on devices which are used by default in landscape mode. In addition, face detection works not good in dark environments.

Permissions
• RUN AT STARTUP: Used to start the app after booting the device
• FULL NETWORK ACCESS: Used for donation feature and error reporting
• ACCESS NETWORK STATE: Used for error reporting and usage stats
• GOOGLE PLAY BILLING SERVICE: Used for donation feature
• PREVENT DEVICE FROM SLEEPING: Used to keep the screen on
• TAKE PICTURES: Used for face detection

Known problems
• intelliMove makes heavily use of hardware components like sensors and front camera. Those components can behave differently on different devices. There is no general guarantee, that intelliMove operates good on every device.
• The "in-use" detection might fail, in case the face detection feature is activated and you are trying to take a photo using the front camera.

Tested devices
A complete list of supported and unupported devices is available at http://qulutions.de/confluence/display/INTELLIMOV/List+of+supported+devices

I welcome and really appreciate every feedback about a tested device. Regardless whether the device test result is positive or negative.

Rating
Please contact me before you do a negative rating in the app store. The main feature of this app can not be tested using the device emulator, because it makes use of hardware components. I am a private person and it would be too expensive for me to buy every device and test the app on it. Thank you very much for your appreciation!
