Be aware that the Chromecast only supports a couple of format/codecs.
It can read containers like mp4, mkv, 3gp and m4v, but all these containers can use different codecs.

On a Chromecast:
Rotate, zoom and pan pictures easily from the "Now playing" screen, touch the
button with the four arrows.


// Subtitles

Subtitles work with Chromecast and Apple TV 4:
- Use the Opensubtitles.org integration
- Touch a subtitle file after you started a video
Subtitles in the same folder are added automatically.
You can set a subtitle folder which will be searched.
Subtitle timing, font, background and color can be changed.
Subtitle encoding in the settings: e.g. for arabic subtitles choose UTF-8
Some DLNA servers add information about subtitles, some don't.

Touch "Route audio to phone" on the "Now playing" screen, to stream the sound to your phone.
It's impossible to sync this automatically and network delays make it hard.
This feature is in beta: it might work most of the time.

Ratings and reviews

Absolutely awful app. It worked on my smart TV for 3 minutes and 23 seconds, lost connection, then never ever found my TV again. Ads pop up every time you press a button, and forget about rewind, fast forward or anything that would be convenient. On the off chance you get it to work you better not touch a single button or you will be watching your movie from the beginning when the ads are finally done again! (Things breaking in background) 😡😡😡

What did you guys do? This app used to be great, but it has become increasingly difficult to use and has become so unreliable that I am officially abandoning it. I don't know if it is the ads always interrupting my attempts to cast, or if there needs to be more development on continuity, but this app is now more of a hassle than a benefit, and I spend more time trying to get it to work than actually using it. Restarting the app, clearing storage, restarting Chromecast, restarting the phone even! Can't understand it and no longer have the patience to try. I cant express the amount of frustration this has recently caused, and I hope it gets fixed eventually. Until then I will no longer be using LocalCast. USE SOMETHING ELSE!

I especially like it without the adds. It allows turning the video or photo and enlarging it to fit the screen which is important for portrait videos and photos. I hope sometime it will have screen mirroring so whatever I put on the phone screen would be on the other screen. I do prefer a one time purchase rather than subscriptions. Thanks for your hard work!
