Necessary for WMA audiobooks I was so happy to find your app. My MP3 player died and the newer ones don't have bookmarks. I can now transfer the files to my Samsung Galaxy S2 phone and have compete control over listening. Just wish you could download from library sites, rather than downloading to a computer and transferring to the phone. For those of you that have trouble with your computer recognizing the phone; go the the Samsung Support site and download the drivers for your phone. I have donated and would encourage others that like your apps to do so. Keep up the good work.
A once awesome app that has apparently been abandoned UPDATE: I'm afraid that time has not been kind to MortPlayer Audio Books and it has not been updated since 2012, which would not be a problem if it weren't having issues under Android 5. I had to switch to Podcast Addict which has been working great. Went from 5 stars to 3. :( ORIGINAL REVIEW: For anyone who listens to audio books or pod casts this app is a must-have. It's nice that the author allows you to remove ad's even if you choose not to donate; however, the donation request of $2.75 (US) is more than reasonable for the flexibility this app allows over other audio apps (when listening to audio books or pod casts). The only issue that I have with the app is that the Bluetooth headset controls (Skip Forward, Back, etc) have become intermittently finicky, although that only seems to have occurred since I upgraded to the Google Nexus 4 phone so I'm suspecting that MortPlayer doesn't play so well with the Jellybean OS since I had no issues with Gingerbread on my old phone. Also, If I had to nitpick the configuration UI could be laid out better and some of the options could be a little more clear but it's not like you spend much time in there after you've set it up.
Great but needs better car mode layout There's so much flexibility and configuration that it can be a little confusing until you get it setup and play with the buttons to see what each one does. But after that you'll love all the detail that's gone into the app. The big complaint (well, desire) I have is that the car mode layout be designed with driving in mind. changing the layout from 'default' to 'car' moves the little tiny play and stop buttons from near the bottom to near the top but this doesn't help much. I really wish the car mode had some big chunky buttons for the major operations like play, stop, skip back/fwd so i can push the right button based on a slight glance at the phone. i'd think audiobooks are listened to a lot in the car so i think special attention should go into the 'car' layout's design. i'd say that's my one complaint that keeps this from being everything i could want in an audiobook app.
Just what I needed Loads of features allows this app to fit basically every need. Could do with a playback speed adjuster like Audible has. My favorite feature is the variable jump back button. Works great with Bluetooth headphones and car link Bluetooth. Some icons aren't intuitive in illustrating what they do. Love that you can choose where the app looks for files, let's you keep it separate from music.
No Better Audiobook Player This is hands down the best player available. It does 99.999% of what I could ever possibly want. The one itty bitty wish I do have is the ability to disable the Skip to Next Track buttons. It's not a design flaw... It's my clumsy habit of hitting it. Please consider donating to the developer. It's amazing he keeps it free!
For the past four years this has been the single most used app on my phone. I read a TON of audiobooks. Heck, I even ended up writing an application to read out the bookmarks file just so I could organize the files on my phone better. XD One or two minor bugs, and some features that would be "nice to have" (creating multiple playlists, a "quickload" function that only checks for the most recent files added - getting the feeling this app was't meant to handle 1,400 files and 16,000 bookmarks ;) Other than that, thank you very very very very much for this excellent app. Will install again on next phone - will buy different phone if this app doesn't run on it. ;-) 255 out 5 stars.
