Kolorob is a globally unique, collaborative web and mobile application for Dhaka, Bangladesh. Without readily available and reliable information, families are unable to make an informed choice about schools, health clinics or even child protection services for their children. Kolorob is an online directory of service providers and interactive map that allows users to readily search and obtain reliable information on service providers through it’s search functionality, compare the costs and quality of services, as well as enables users to share their views and feedback after having used a service. Our users will also be able learn about job opportunities and other valuable information on the city. Kolorob is accessible to the community through a combination of physical information kiosks located in Bauniabadh and Paris Road, Mirpur, as well as through installation on mobile devices.
Kolorob’s vision is to create an online platform and physical space that improves access to information on essential services, aimed at reaching a large proportion of people living in poor urban settlements- with a focus on the estimated 2-3 million residents living below the poverty line in Dhaka. More specifically, Kolorob has the potential to impact the growing young population and social mobilisers within their neighborhoods’. Bangladesh already has 13.2 million social media users, which presents a unique opportunity to grow huge across Dhaka.
Open Street Mapping, search functionality and job portal is readily available. Kolorob has also released a bazaar tool that enables community members to buy, sell or exchange goods and services amongst other community members. Additional service provider details and information in surrounding areas have been mapped in the application.
