About this app

"coemiyell is able to pronounce English long vowels [a][i][u][ɔ] and short vowels [æ][ʌ][ɪ][ʊ][e] correctly, and Japanese vowels. It is a pronunciation "visualization" app that allows you to check in real time whether you are pronouncing [A], [I], [U], [E], and [O] correctly while actually saying them.

We produce speech sounds by controlling (articulation) the shape and movement of our speech organs such as the jaw, tongue, lips, and vocal cords. Among these vowels, which are the core of speech, the phonology (timbre) changes in various ways depending on the position of the tongue and jaw and the way the lips are rounded. coemiyell was developed to help children acquire stable vowel pronunciation through their own vocal efforts, while providing visual feedback on the state of articulation at the time of vowel production in the form of differences in the position and color of the ball.
