Med denne app præsenterer Museum Sønderjylland – Sønderborg Slot et udvalg af steder, hvor Første Verdenskrig 1914-1918 har sat sig spor i det sønderjyske landskab.

Under krigen var Sønderjylland tysk, og mens det øvrige Danmark forblev neutralt, blev landsdelen og dens befolkning inddraget direkte i krigen. Selvom landsdelen i det store hele undgik at blive skueplads for kamphandlinger, så satte krigen alligevel sit præg. Hen imod 35.000 sønderjyske mænd blev indkaldt til tysk krigstjeneste, tusindvis af krigsfanger og soldater kom til landsdelen, og rundt om opførtes store militære anlæg. Krigen efterlod sig mange spor. Hver eneste sønderjyske sogn har et mindesmærke for de faldne og rundt om på kirkegårdene findes krigsfange- og soldatergrave, mens der endnu er bevaret betydelige rester af de arbejder militæret foretog.

With this app presents Museum Sønderjylland - Sønderborg Castle a selection of places where the First World War 1914-1918 have left traces in Southern Jutland countryside.

During the war, Jutland German, and while the rest of Denmark remained neutral, was part of the country and its people directly involved in the war. Although the province is largely escaped the scene of the fighting, so put the war anyway its toll. Towards 35,000 sønderjyske men were drafted into the German military service, thousands of prisoners of war and soldiers came to the province and around the built large military facilities. The war left behind many traces. Every sønderjyske parish has a memorial to the fallen and around the cemeteries are prisoner of war and soldiers graves, while there are still retains significant traces of the work the military did.
