Review from Tracy Wills
Junk app No point in the app. Can't report a thunderstorm. Only rain - not even heavy rain. If it's raining so hard you can't see in front of you, can't report it. -- Can't report a T-storm with wind damage in the same report. -- Stop trying to protect me from me (with your explanation). That's my responsibility.
Great App Love getting involved however I can only pick snow... I would like to report flurries. Maybe offer additional options in falling precipitation.
Second version fixes GPS issues Thanks to everyone who downloaded the app and sent feedback. The 1.1 version of the app has the following enhancements: 1. Uses cell tower based location until GPS fix is obtained, so those of you in tall buildings can still use the app. 2. The app lets go of the GPS immediately when you navigate away instead of waiting for the app to get passivated by the os. So battery use should be more friendly now. 3. Ability to view submitted reports. 4. More categories. 5. A marker on the map that indicates the location. Thanks and stay safe! Response to several common questions/suggestions: (1) A way to report intensity. The problem is that radar-measured rates and human-observed intensities are not really commensurate. We decided not to open that can of worms, for now. (2) "Settings" menu: That is something Android adds by default. This app (by design) has no menu and no settings. (3) Ability to submit photographs. We tried that before, but we got submissions of photographs of people doing not-safe-for-work activities.
Great Idea but... Love the concept, but the app isn't as great as it could be. Besides the fact that the Android version is lacking in style vs. the iPhone version, it also misses on performance. I am able to send reports, but there is no progress bar, nor are there any details listed as shown in the screenshots. The Settings button doesn't work either, no settings appear, not even a blank screen, the button just disappears when you touch it. Glad I can at least send reports and am looking forward to an updated version that will fix these bugs!
stopped working the app does not respond to touches anymore. I would make weather reports but I can't.
Researcher style app Please do something with the remainder of the screen real estate. Your wasting lots of space. Can not click on other locations. Seems like you should be able to especially if not obsing a tornado on the ground directly on top of you. If you want to get a good idea of the precip that falls or the weather situation allow users to make notes but require to pick a category. This would allow for better records and more precise information.
More reporting categories have been added to the mPING app. The layout of the graphical interface has been changed in response to user comments.
