Here’s what the participating restaurants and grocers are doing:
They are supporting our efforts to save seals by doing one of three things: boycotting snow crabs from Canada, boycotting seafood from sealing provinces (Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Quebec), or boycotting all Canadian seafood. We welcome all of their efforts. They've all pledged to avoid these Canadian seafood items until Canada brings its commercial seal slaughter to an end once and for all. Please thank them when you visit them!
Why the boycott?
For years, Canada has authorized sealers to slaughter hundreds of thousands of seal pups, most of whom will be under three months of age when they are killed for their fur. The people who kill seal pups for profit in Canada are commercial fishermen. Boycotting the seafood they catch sends a clear—and economic - message to Canada: "We won’t buy while seals die." Every time you dine or shop at establishments listed on this app, you’re helping to send that message!
