SBKI Spain Budo Karate Integral (Integral being the Spanish word for complete)
In this didactic unit we will study the technical gestures contained in the kata Heian Shodan, simple gestures and common to many other kata, not only the basic but also the higher ones. They are found not only in the Shotokan style, but also in many others.
We wanted to go a bit further than the conventional bunkai.
Our aim was to decode each technical gesture and for this reason we have had to analyse each one independently from the rest. In other words, we have broken down each gesture to observe how it works in the execution of other possible applications.
We thought about the conventional application, by which we mean the most well-known or accepted one, but also contemplated other possibilities. Above all, a practical, coherent, true and scientific meaning was given to it
In order to achieve this, we thought of using, as well as the final phase of each gesture, also the intermediate ones and a possible interaction with hikite.
Furthermore, we have created a pyramid of work which is completely innovative and different from anything considered up until now, especially at the pedagogical level. This is due to its high level of development and its progressive structuring.
We have labelled it with new terminology so as to differentiate it from other work and identify it as a work system.
There are terms such as:
1 –Complete development of the kamae 2 – Method of progression for theadaptation work, in the application this appears as MPAW
Not all the gestures in the kata lend themselves to the development of this work. In this unit there are two gestures that dodue to their special characteristics.
Tetsui and shuto
1 - Complete development of the kamaetetsuiuchi 2 - Method of progression for the kamaetetsuiuchi adaptation work. In the application this appears as MPAW.
1- Complete development of the kamaeshutouke 2 - Method of progression for the kamaeshutouke adaptation work. In the application this appears as MPAW .
The contents found in this app represent only a tiny part of the SBKI (Spain-Shotokan Budo Karate Integral) work system. They are the result of more than 14 years research and part of the contents of the book “Complete Karate-Kata Methodology”.
If you are a teacher, we hope that this will be of use to you in your pedagogical work and that it will bring you new points of view. If you are simply practitioners of Karate, we hope that you will enjoy practicing this work.
With very best wishes from Asturias, Spain. See you on the tatami,
