The Photonics4All-App is dedecated to explain the role of photonique technology in our life. The role of the Photonics4all App is to promote photonics to young people, the general public and entrepreneurs. The Photonics4All-App contains five different modules:
1-Basics Photonics concepts This module is dedicated to explaining the fundamentals aspects of light. This module will focus on exploring the nature of light and studying how we can control the light. In this module we will also introduce some fundamentals tools used in the optics/photonics such as lenses, mirrors and lasers.
2- Photonics for ICT High-speed Internet is now present in every city. This technology has developed rapidly thanks to the optical fiber. Why is this method used worldwide? How can we all have access to these services in our homes? This module will focus on exploring the usage of photonics in those different areas.
3-Photonics for Energy, lighting and display In the sustainable environment, green photonics is a key technology that has the potential to cut global emission of carbon dioxide, reduce pollution, etc... In this area the green photonics covers photo-voltaic energy, highly efficient solid state lighting (SSL), LED and OLED technology for display. This module will focus on exploring the usage of photonics in those different areas.
4-Photonics for Security, Monitoring and sensing People want to feel secure when they go into public faces. In that way sensors and monitoring devices play an important role as they enable to detect dangers at earlier stage. This module will focus on exploring the usage of photonics in those different areas.
5- Photonics for Health & life science Today photonics is the unique enabling tools for healthcare and life science. The microscope is one of the powerful instruments in the biological research. More and more the laser is largely used in diagnosis and treatment in ophthalmology, in dermatology and oncology. This module will focus on exploring the usage of photonics in those different areas.
A number of sub sections will be developed for each module. Each of the sub sections will explain a specific concept through 3 steps: • Understand We will try to explain the given concept as simply as possible. • Animate/Experiment Whenever possible we will use simulation or animation in order to demonstrate the concept. • Quiz Youth or students will be able to test whether they understand the concept or not.
