Using Wero with your bank
Wero is a European instant digital payment solution built by EPI and backed by major European banks.

Customers of Deutsche Bank, La Banque Postale, norisbank and Postbank should download the Wero app and link their bank accounts directly to it.

Customers of other participating banks can use Wero in their bank's own app. Availability and features depend on your bank and country of residence. Check your banking app to see if your bank supports Wero and how to get started.

Once you have activated Wero, all you need is your smartphone to shop online and pay friends and family across Europe, instantly and securely.

Wero works with major banks and financial institutions across Belgium, France, Germany and Luxembourg, with more countries and banks joining soon.

What's next
Wero is expanding, including new ways to pay in-store and online, and support for more European countries. In the fall of 2026 Wero will be released in Luxembourg supported by BGL BNP Paribas, Banque Internationale à Luxembourg (BIL), POST Luxembourg, Banque Raiffeisen and Spuerkeess (BCEE).

Wero is available to customers of participating banks. Availability depends on your bank and country of residence. Check your banking app before you download Wero to confirm you are eligible. Downloading the app does not guarantee you can register for or use Wero.

Ratings and reviews

My bank finally supports Wero but many banks still don't. It's a pity that Wero doesn't support NFC payments (for now). Didn't have a chance to use it anywhere yet. The onboarding is easy and linking your phone number or email address is optional. So far so good. Hopefully, they learned from the failures of paydirekt and giropay. I'm looking forward to saying goodbye to Paypal, Mastercard and Visa but I won't hold my breath.

I installed the app, but it crashes immediately after starting, no error message. Crashing w/o and error message is for me an indication of low software quality. Frightening that this app is supposed to be used for payment services. Needless the say that paypal works on the same phone since many years. Checking the output of logcat in the Android debug bridge reveals a divide by zero exception which is not catched. That looks like a beginner issue in software development.... :-/

I think there's a serious bug in the app, or perhaps a device or bank specific issue? I just installed Wero, linked it to my banking app, but every time I reopen Wero it gives me the same list of banks to link Wero too...like it's stuck in a boarding loop. But when I go ahead and try to link it again, my banking app clearly shows that it's linked.
