It was signed at the San Francisco War Memorial and Performing Arts Center in San Francisco, United States, on 26 June 1945, by 50 of the 51 original member countries. (Poland, the other original member, which was not represented at the conference, signed it two months later.) It entered into force on 24 October 1945, after being ratified by the five permanent members of the Security Council—the Republic of China under Chapter II of the United Nations Charter (and currently by the People's Republic of China), France, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (later replaced by the Russian Federation), the United Kingdom, and the United States—and a majority of the other signatories.

The Messier objects are a set of astronomical objects first listed by French astronomer Charles Messier in 1771. Messier was a comet hunter, and was frustrated by objects which resembled but were not comets, so he compiled a list of them, in collaboration with his assistant Pierre Méchain, to avoid wasting time on them.

Besides ephemeris data, such as moon age, phase, size and magnitude, the widget measures the moon's current orbit velocity, radial velocity, position between perigee and apogee as well as distance in selectable intervals of 1 to 5 seconds.
The phase image of the moon can be rotated for the southern hemisphere. An interrupt button is provided to pause measurements and conserve battery.
After installation, a splash comes up with instructions and an About button. Please appreciate that widgets cannot be moved to external memory card.
