BikePrints mob app designed for collecting data from EU citizens on Physical Activity and Social Networks for the Social Biking project (S-b). The Joint Research Center is setting up the project "Social-Biking"(S-b) which aims to motivate European citizens to move more and use more environmentally sustainable means of transport. Within the S-b framework, JRC will compare different incentive schemes on cycling activities of people. The S-b is an internet based project which will be exclusively coordinated and conducted through the BikePrints mobile application which allows users to track their movement and more importantly to see other friends' shared movements. Participants will be receiving social based incentives, i.e. a biker will receive points if s/he bikes on the same path with other S-bikers. During the project S-bikers will receive different rewards (sport/bike equipment) based on their physical activity performance and on their social performance.
Official Game Rules: Each S-biker activates the BikePrints app ('Start BikePrinting' button) whenever s/he moves with his/her bike. The app records his/her movement and translates the tracked kilometres into lottery tickets (LT) such that 1km=1LT.The "distance" is translated to "lottery tickets" only to assure a FAIR distribution of the prizes. For winning a prize, an S-biker should not take any other action (i.e. gambling, betting, etc.) but tracking his/her BikePrints. The prizes offered during the S-b project are exclusively sponsored by the European Commission in order to favour and incentivise a healthy and environmentally sustainable lifestyle. The S-b project is divided into three sub-stages: the Individual stage, the S-pair stage and the S-group stage. At the end of each stage a lottery draw will determine the winners of 150 (50 in each stage) different rewards (see prizes). Winners will be announced and informed via BikePrints when and where to collect their prizes. The prizes will be awarded directly to the winners by the respective local organiser. In case that an underage user wins a prize, the parent who signed the parental informed consent during the registration process will receive the prize on behalf of his offspring. In addition to these lottery rewards, at the end of the S-b project, 7 big rewards will be given (without a lottery draw): a) to the S-biker with the most individually earned LT from all stages b) to the S-Pair with most Bonus tickets and c) to the S-Group with the most Bonus tickets.
