This app continuously captures camera images in the background for timelapse videos (see video link for a sample).
Delay between images is adjustable down to 1 second. Normal phone operation can continue with minimal CPU load.
Note: images are saved on SD card as JPEG. Not yet tested on Android 10, which introduced changes to external storage handling.
This app is open-source under GPL. The source code is available at https://github.com/floe/Background-Timelapse

I mean not to pick on this app in particular because not one of the six of them that I've tried have actually been able to run in the background but this one is named background time lapse. I think the problem is probably with Android somewhere but I can't find the setting if there is one which there probably isn't. Perhaps it used to work in older versions of Android. To be clear I 100% blame Android for this.

It's been ages, I know, but I just pushed an update that might make it work again on Android 8. If you're still interested, give it a try!

I'm seeing an error upon clicking start "TimelapseService: error creating output directory - SD card not mounted?". I don't use sd card on my phone as i have plenty of internal memory, can this issue be fixed?
