About this app

The Carte Vitale app is your Carte Vitale on smartphone: a digital health insurance service that can be downloaded for free.

It does not replace your Vitale card but constitutes an alternative.

> Whatever your department of affiliation, you can activate your Vitale card app if you have an identity card in the new format and have created your digital identity on the France identity application.

> Without using the France identity application, the Vitale card app is being rolled out gradually and will be available in all departments by the end of 2025. You can currently activate your Vitale card app if you are insured in one of these departments:

TO ACTIVATE YOUR CARTE VITALE APP, YOU MUST VERIFY THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:
- Be affiliated with a health insurance organization open to the Vitale card app. By the end of 2025, the Vitale card app will be open to all health insurance plans.
- Have a compatible smartphone,
- Have an authorized identity document,
- Be 16 or 18 years old depending on your affiliation plan.

ONCE ACTIVATED, YOUR CARTE VITALE APP ALLOWS:
- to identify yourself, as with your Vitale card at your pharmacist, your doctor, your dental surgeon, your nurse, your optician, etc.,
- to view your healthcare expenses made with your Vitale card app,
- to access your information and that of your beneficiaries: Social Security number, mandatory organization, but also other information such as National Health Identity.

The equipment of health professionals is being done gradually.
It is therefore advisable to always keep your Vitale card with you.
A display is present in healthcare professionals equipped to read the Vitale card app. Don’t hesitate to ask them if they are equipped.

Ratings and reviews

This app is broken on Android 15 QPR2. It should be tested on devices running the latest Android monthly/quarterly releases such as Pixels including testing it prior to the stable release via Android Beta releases. Your app has a serious bug you need to fix. It's a technical issue with the app.

The facial recognition compared to the ID simply doesn't work after multiple attempts, not too mention the numerous bugs and errors messages during the process forcing to restart it from the beginning every time. It would be convenient to have a virtual Vitale card and it is frustrating that this app is not efficient.

The app should really come handy... If only it worked. I have been absolutely unable to scan my passport with it. There seems to be a bug with the scanning process that is very annoying. Why is it that any French apps connected to the government and/or public services are so poorly developed? I hope this big will soon be fixed in an update.
