Sound based monitoring of your space is now made easy. This is a minimal tool camera monitoring application, based on noise triggering.
The operation is quite simple:
1) start the service 2) place your device in a position so that it can photograph the desired area 3) put your device to sleep
When the ambient noise exceeds a certain level then Photo Sentinel takes 3 consecutive photographs in 1 second intervals. If the level of the sound continues fluctuating then it keeps taking photographs. No flash is ever used. This tool application is meant to be stealthy and not reveal your device's position.
This tool tries to conserve your device's battery, so it operates only when in sleep mode.
It also tries to conserve your device's storage space so it takes photographs only when it is triggered by a noise fluctuation. You can use the settings to change the parameters of what can cause the trigger. For example suppose you leave the phone in a place where the ambient noise is high, e,g, near a road, you can adjust the settings so that Photo Sentinel starts taking pictures if the level of the ambient noise increases 25% above the previous level. This way you can limit the noise sensitivity of your device.
Keep in mind to place the phone in a adequately lit area, so the the camera can focus easily and get clear images. Also take into consideration not to muffle your devices microphone, thus incapacitating the applications ability to evaluate the ambient sound.
Bug fix regarding taking pictures in darker environments.
