The updated UI is too convoluted and time consuming to just find and add a song to the queue. It would be nice if you didn't have to scroll for miles through these ridiculously HUGE icons for the artists and albums (I'm not blind). The original UI was much more practical. It doesn't make a lot sense to have to open so many menus to achieve one simple task. This was never a problem before.

You can change the view mode of basically every list. The 3 dot menu -> view mode. You can select just a list with no album art or smaller art. The "new ui" (1.5 years old now) has more options easily accessible from the main UI instead of having to dig through all the settings. https://gonemadmusicplayer.blogspot.com/p/help-view-mode.html

Used to be the best, but recent versions have gotten worse. There is no way to directly shuffle search results into your queue. It never remembers shuffle settings. There are no profiles that let you have different queues for different devices. The artwork autoscanner seems to get weird unrelated art. Many settings missing since update.

3 dot menu shuffle will shuffle the selection, if you want to stay in shuffle you need to select shuffle for the new selection in the 3 dot menu. Selecting "play" will play it in order. There are 2 discrete actions now instead of the app making assumptions

I've tried this for 2 months. Compared to ver. 2 the widgets, setting it up, the custom metadata and the folder browsing are all terrible. Not to mention the other options that no longer exist in this "new & improved" version. This is 100% form before function. If all you care about are colors and round corners, then great, otherwise either install the "classic" version or just go get Poweramp. You'll be a lot happier.

Nearly every single option from v2 is there and/or greatly improved. Most options were moved to the toolbar menu for easier access. The only thing I can think of not there is custom background in now playing. V3 is not just about form, but all the functionality was reworked based off user feedback

What's new

3.3.13 (2022/09/20):
-Folder select list items will now wrap long paths into multiple lines
-Made sdcards a bit more discoverable in the folder chooser dialog
-Added 'On Select' settings for playlists (Advanced Settings -> Library -> Playlist)
-MEDIA_PLAY_PAUSE, MEDIA_PLAY, and MEDIA_PAUSE should now work with the remote control overrides
-Fixed scrobbler / playstate when changing tracks while stopped/paused
-Fixed some issues saving smart playlists with illegal filename characters in it's name
