ErgoMine provides ergonomics audits for three types of operations in the mining industry (bagging operations, maintenance and repair operations, and haul truck operations). Each of the three audits has modules, and the user can choose to complete all or some of the modules. The audit results can be emailed to multiple addresses, and recommendations to address each identified ergonomics and safety problem are provided within the results.
ErgoMine was developed by Pittsburgh Mining Research Division researchers within the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. The audits and recommendations are based on information from sources including laboratory studies, field studies, injury and fatality data, consensus standards, regulations, and best practices. The audits were designed to be conducted by mine personnel responsible for safety and does not require any ergonomics expertise.
